Understanding the medication trends that influence cost and utilization, such as compounded medications, chronic pain management and co-morbid conditions can help ensure optimal outcomes, clinically and financially. This session explores key issues based on pharmacy benefit management and industry data. Dr. Hall will examine medication costs and utilization trends and discuss the importance of collaboration to help achieve better outcomes.

The Body Systems Affected by Chronic Pain and Opioid Analgesics
Chronic pain and opioid analgesics can affect multiple body systems, potentially leading to therapy complications, longer recovery, prolonged pain medication usage, and a higher risk of prescription drug misuse or abuse. Dr. Hall will describe how chronic pain and opioid analgesics can affect the major body systems. He will also discuss strategies necessary to mitigate these adverse effects while focusing on the physical, psychological and functional recovery of the patient.
